Hyperloop UPV H8
My contribution to Hyperloop UPV H8: Kénos interior furniture and mock-up, an Unreal Engine VR experience, and support during functional-pod integration.
HYPERLOOP UPV H8OPEN OFFICIAL PRESENTATIONIn 2023, I joined Hyperloop UPV while completing an academic exchange at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. I took part in H8, the team's 2022–2023 development cycle focused on Kénos and Atlas.
Kénos and Atlas
Kénos was a functional pod integrating electromagnetic propulsion and levitation. Atlas was the 30-metre tubular infrastructure built for testing under low-pressure conditions. The team presented both developments at the European Hyperloop Week in Edinburgh from July 17 to 23, 2023.

My contribution
I joined the project from an industrial design background and worked across four areas: the pod's interior furniture, the physical passenger-space mock-up, a virtual-reality experience, and support for the mechanics, software, and levitation teams during integration.
My work moved between spatial design and the constraints of a technical prototype under development. Decisions concerning seats, spacing, and interior components had to coexist with the structure, wiring, and systems installed in the vehicle base.

Interior and mock-up
I developed the interior furniture and worked on the mock-up used to represent the passenger cabin. Scale studies used articulated figures to review the relationship between the body, the seat, and the distance between places before the final parts were installed.

Virtual-reality experience
My first task within the team was to develop an Unreal Engine simulation of the pod interior. It allowed the cabin to be explored from a passenger's viewpoint before the physical mock-up was complete.
The simulation was presented at the final event in Edinburgh. I set up my own VR headsets so visitors could experience the interior alongside the physical prototype.
Outcome
H8 concluded with the presentation of Kénos, Atlas, and a physical representation of the passenger space. My contribution combined interior design, scale prototyping, and immersive visualization, together with support for the technical teams during assembly and testing.
