Mirror

2025 · Product Design · 3D Infrastructure

Product design for Mirror, EnginLabs’ 3D civil-infrastructure visualization platform, funded by ANII and used in projects in Uruguay and the Netherlands.

EL PAÍS ARTICLEREAD THE FULL ARTICLE

I have worked on Mirror as a Product Designer since 2024. The platform brings drawings, topography, utility networks, and road design into a navigable 2D/3D environment, allowing technical teams, clients, and public agencies to review the same visual reference through a web link.

From development to implementation

Mirror became EnginLabs' first product after an internal development phase. Its implementation received support from ANII and formally began on September 1, 2025, with an expected duration of 18 months and institutional monitoring. It was publicly presented that same month at the road infrastructure congress organized by the Uruguayan Road Association.

An article published by El País in April 2026 documents the transition from development to concrete use cases. It records a first client in Uruguay in October 2025 and the beginning of projects in the Netherlands in January 2026.

What it addresses

Infrastructure project information is often distributed across drawings, models, and specialist documents. Mirror organizes these layers within a shared spatial representation. 3D navigation supports the reading of relationships between alignments, levels, and networks, while web access allows the project to be reviewed without installing specialist software.

My role

My work focuses on user flows, information architecture, and interaction within the 3D environment. I also contribute to product prioritization and translate engineering requirements into interface decisions.

The product is developed by an interdisciplinary engineering and visualization team.

Documented adoption

According to El País, Saceem used Mirror to present projects to the Maldonado local government. In the Netherlands, its first application was Overdie-West, a residential development south of Alkmaar. The article also documents later use in larger industrial, urban, and residential projects.

These cases are relevant because they place the product beyond an internal demonstration: the platform began to support the communication of engineering information between companies, technical teams, and public stakeholders.

Confidentiality

The confidentiality agreements remain in force. This publication only uses information released by ANII, EnginLabs, and El País. It does not include interfaces under development, technical documentation, internal decisions, or non-public validation results.
